Huestonwoods Road Race: Cat 4's
From Scott Gramke
The race went really well, and the weather was fantastic! I signed up for the juniors but nobody else did so I raced the cat 4's. It was 40 miles, and I was expecting 30, but I felt good the whole race so I was happy. It was pretty mellow except for a few spin ups, and the pack stayed pretty much together for the whole race. I was a bit uncomfortable on the turns, I guess because I haven't gone that fast through corners in a few months, but by the end of the race I felt a lot better. The hills were a bit tough, but I felt like I was about on par with the guys there. My new teammate Luke Weber attacked hard to get a breakaway going. He opened a good gap, but it was pulled back a little later. On the last lap I tried to move up on the hills and I got up to about mid pack. Then on the sprint I tried to go for it but I didn't have enough to get to the front. I think I ended up getting 8th or 9th, but I didn't have time to wait and find out. I did so much better than last year, so I am happy :)
Brown County State Park Road Race: 1/2
In the Cat 1/2 race new MOB Cat 2 racer John Nay road a strong race in this hilly and demanding course. John enjoys the hills and ended up in 17th place to start the season.
Brown County State Park Road Race: Cat 4's
The Cat 4 race saw a good size field willing to take on this tough course. Greg and Troy Hege worked well to stay toward the front during the race. Each lap up the hills saw riders fall off the tempo. By the end only 50 remained and Greg finished 25th with his brother Troy finishing 26th. Great job!!!
Thank you for reading this weekends racing reports.
Take Care
